Education has become one of the most bitter sweet moments in life. What I mean by this is those who attend college or University are at first amazed at motivated to keep learning but that moment doesn't last too long when they see the cost of school. According to the National Center of Education Statistics, "The average total cost for a year of college at a four-year school -- including tuition and fees, on-campus room and board, books, supplies, and other expenses -- was $35,551.Footnote[1] That's roughly $142,000 over the course of four years". The question we should ask ourselves is why they cost of education is incredibly high and how we should solve this problem. The answer to this is making college free to student.
How will the costs be covered? There are over 2,668 billionaires in the world and over 735 billionaires in the Unites States by taxing them we would be able to pay off some of the expenses of students not only would we tax the rich but we could also make sure that the salary of people are averaged out to what they should be. For example, there are NBA players and Famous people who are getting paid millions of dollars to just play one game or perform. While there are teachers who have gone to school and have paid to get their degree and are not even getting paid half of what an NBA player is getting paid. By doing this we could be using the money to as well pay off the costs of education. How will it affect us economy? Having free college education will have a positive impact on the economy because it will creates a more skilled workforce in the country which intern would better able to compete globally. Not only this once the student start working in their field and get paid what they work that money they get will go back into the economy because now they have more to spend. An economy grows by having an increase in consumer spending, investment, and people paying there taxes and etc. What are the pros and cons of this amendment and how will we improve it? The pros of this amendment is that more student would be motivated to go back to school since they know they wont be in debt after. Not only will students be more motivated but the graduation rates as well would increase. Like stated before the more students and graduation rates we have the more the economy would get back. The cons would be people taking advantage of this system. In order to fix this problem we would put in rules and regulation in order to be able to make this system work. What I mean by this is having interviews with students or even doing midterm exams or some kind of testing where we are able to see what students are actually focusing and are not taking advantage of the system.
